i think i'll take the rest of the black out on monday or tuesday (CAN'T smell any more thinner for now! )... man i just hope i'll be able to get some life back into that CAR. think turtle wax will do the trick?

i'll also fill those big screw holes with matchsticks and put normal screws in there. need to get nice looking ones for the vibrato.

i'm a bit worried about the guard, since it's quite a bit fragile.
i think i do have an old tort guard laying around somewhere here...

here's the end of the fretboard. not nice, eh?
but it plays well. for now, it'll do.

ok taking 'er apart again...

so, will turtle wax /car polish do the trick?

will also put new foamy under the pups, fill the oversized screw holes, new screws, etc.

stay tuned!

thanks!

wow, I was sure that was a knock off, good save so far!

I'm a bit confused though...I thought after CBS took over they changed the process of painting Candy Apple Red from using a silver metallic base coat to a gold metallic base coat. Why does this example have a grey primer? Are you sure it's original paint?

You'll likely have to do some fine sanding to get that finish to shine! Get some 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and get to work.

Afterwards use the scratch-x and Zymol.

and why is the whole neck pocket painted?
I've always thought that fenders technology would use that stick while painting.

i liked it in the half black, half red but my god. it look good. stick some black pup covers on there and you have a beasting looking guitar
